Used to be a great well kept facility. Disrespectful employees and lack of cleanliness and honest business ethics take away from the five star rating.
Awful, was treated really bad at the front desk and as a member who just paid $500 cannot even get in! never recommend this place! They are all not equal Chicago is much better!
Update: Since posting my review, there have been several updates to the overall care and maintenance of the gym. They've put in new carpet, fixed the roof (which leaked during the winter), and hopefully there are other changes coming.
The only positive thing we liked about this gym were their swim instructors- my kids improved a lot with them. This whole experience with cancellation left such a bad taste in my mouth- especially when I was following the steps to terminate our contract so carefully, that I could never recommend them to anyone. The showers are filthy, the pool rules are ridiculous- they rarely have the indoor slides running. Rock climbing is fun...when it's actually open (which is only during their busy hours).
If you ever need to cancel your membership here- prepare for a nightmare. When we moved out of state, I followed all the steps to cancel our membership so that it didn't renew. I wrote a letter, sent it via certified mail with return receipt. Two weeks later, I checked online & saw that they updated my membership to "cancelled". I expected the CHARGES on my credit card to stop at that point. They didn't. According to Mandy & her manager at this location: just because they receive your termination letter & log it in the system, it still needs a full 30 days after that point to them to "process it". Translation: they will take your money for as long as they possibly can. When I asked kindly for a refund- even a partial refund- I was told no.
I've been coming here since autumn 2015. For gym standards in Utah its average to above average in terms of price, but the cost was worth it for the daycare. The kids center is tantalizing because I can be in the gym for 2 hours and my kids can be in the daycare having a general good time with lots of options for fun activities.
The emphasis in this gym has become get new members. Constantly. They're nonstop doing free weekends to tantalize potential members. They're rarely doing routine maintenance to address issues longtime members have. Falling apart showers, broken and dirty machines, broken lockers, broken bathroom doors. It's a big job. I get it. But bringing new members in brings in more money. Not sure where they're spending that money.
A newer employee named Brittany was very nice and apologized. She made me fill out a paper to request my hold because there is a 30 day advance policy I was never told about. She said she'd talk to her manager to see what they could do to put my membership on hold and would call me later. She called me a couple of minutes ago to tell me since her manager doesn't have a paper trace of me going in, they will have to charge me for the next month even though I can't go in.
I called at the beginning of the month (30 days ago) to try to put my membership on hold and they told me I had to go in person. Being a full-time worker and full-time grad student I didn't have time to go until 2 weeks ago. When I did, I was told there was no member there to help me put my membership on hold or to change my form of payment since my last one had expired. I went back today and they apologized and told me there must have been a mistake because there should have been someone there to help me. My payment was quickly taken at the front then I was told to wait to figure out my membership hold
I have been going to this gym for years and progressively it's gotten more rundown with the only improvement made have been the ones that benefit the PTs--like having a huge empty space to train their clients where machines used to go.
I definitely feel fooled and lied to by this form. It was obviously something that was never going to be approved. They aren't doing a good job at client relationship-building. I feel like the only time any employees have talked to me have been to sell me something. This is the worst customer service gym I've been a member of.
Its a shame that I'm writing this review, but after being a member for so long, I feel really disappointed that this gym will not value my loyalty and how much I've had to put up with their increasing prices over the years. The gym has not improved, but their fees/membership does keep increasing.
This gym has a good variety of classes that are mostly geared toward people who don't work normal 8-5 jobs. It has an average outside pool with really rude workers. The machines I like are always reserved when I can make it to the gym (6pm after work) for some type of group fitness class you have to pay for.
Hopefully when I return they will improve their policies and begin to be a more client focused facility.
