4) Adding to #3, when you show up you are required to fill out a 3 page health history... every time for each child. This is a requirement even when all information is exactly the same as the last x# of appointments. Add another 10-15 minutes to your wait time in #3.

1) Their main receptionist is very rude. Indifferent, unkind, and cold.

Nothing against Swinyard himself. While a nice man and a decent doctor, members of his staff, his office facilities, office management, and business practices in general are inadequate.

Doctor Swinyard has been my Endocrinologist for the past 19 years. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about him. He truly cares about his patients. He is a Diabetic himself, so he is understanding and knows firsthand what his patients have to deal with on a day to day basis. He is always positive and friendly.

For us, we finally couldn't handle feeling like our patronage didn't matter and that we as patients were of little importance.

The list of frustrations is long, but I will leave a few highlights.

2) They are a pediatric office, yet do not have one single item for children in their office (with exception of a book about a diabetic girl, that seems to have been donated once upon a time). While we normally only have 2 kids there, on a few occasions we had 4 kids in the office. This is certainly our issue to worry about, but the dearth of "pediatric" items makes bringing any children along a frenetic and aggravating experience.

If I could give a negative 10 stars I would. I rarely leave reviews, but they certainly have their place on occasion.

If I could give him 0 Stars, I would. My daughter has severe problems with Thyroiid to name a few. She is on several medications. After repeated requests to have Dr Swinyard call us, he not only didn't call he would have is secretary call whom was very rude. Wouldn't allow us to come in for another appointment for refills on medication due to a $35 ballance. I have never been treated so horrible by a Dr. Please go somewhere else. This place should be shut down

7) Parking is a nightmare and the office is in a dingy basement. You will get used to it over time, but it's not particularly easy, inviting, or otherwise patient-oriented.

5) Appointments are typically available 3 months out. While each appointment is 3 months apart, if you have any appointment changes or need to schedule a more urgent appointment... your nearest availability is 3 months out with no flexibility, empathy, or willingness to even try to be helpful (see #1).

3) Adding to #2, the wait times are absurd. We received advice from a nurse on which appointment times were quickest. We religiously scheduled these appointments each time, and the minimum wait time was 30 minutes. Average wait times were much longer. With a flock of children, wait times seem longer and are many times exaggerated as a result. However, 30 minutes was the absolute quickest time we were admitted in nearly 3 years.

Dr. Swinyard is the best of the best! He has taken amazing care of our young adult son since diagnosed with t1d at age 2yrs. He has been so encouraging to both our son, and us as parents, in dealing with this insidious disease, especially during the teenage years. He genuinely cares about his patients, and their caretakers. Would recommend him 110%.

My wife and I are not high-maintenence people, I would consider us as fairly laid back. It's probably the reason it took us nearly 3 years before these issues became enough to move on and find something better. If the reasons above are not of major concern to you, you'll find this office adequate. The medicine practiced is competent, and the overall sentiment from Swinyard himself is positive. The location is okay, and many doctors in the valley refer to Swinyard.

6) Be sure to calendar your appointments and do not forget to set self-reminders. They send a "helpful" reminder text 2 or 3 weeks prior to your appointment. In nearly 3 years we missed one appointment, and were charged $70 as a result... (see #1 and #5).

We were their patents for over 2 years, approaching three years (2 kids being seen).

We have seen Chad Barnett (Dr. Swinyard's PA) every visit since our son's first visit, I think originally because he is easier to schedule with. Chad is always very good with my son and takes time to talk to us and discuss any questions we have.
